On Tuesday, February 11th, the recognition ceremony honoring the ten research centers from the three Galician universities that are part of the CIGUS Network took place at the Museo del Centro Gaiás in Santiago de Compostela.

The CIGUS Network, which constitutes a unique model in Spain and is co-financed under the Feder Galicia 2021-2027 operational program, represents the best of science in Galicia, based on excellence, collaboration, and a real impact on society and the economy. It currently has 1,600 researchers and has secured over 180 million euros in competitive projects in the past four years. This represents a notable economic return for a network to which the Galician government has allocated nearly 68 million euros.

An event in which representatives from the ten research centers that are part of the Network – CICA and CITIC from UDC, CiMUS, CiQUS, CITIUS, CRETUS, and IGFAE from USC, AtlanTTic, CIM, and CINBIO from UVigo – highlighted the achievements in research excellence and the transfer of knowledge between research centers and the productive sector.

The event was attended by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, who emphasized the importance of the CIGUS Network as a benchmark for scientific excellence in Galicia and thanked its contribution to building “a cutting-edge Galicia” and a leader in R&D&I.

From FEUGA, as the entity responsible for the technical secretariat of the Network, we are in charge of designing the annual activity plan and coordinating the actions developed within it, contributing to its smooth operation.
