Last 29th of November, FEUGA collaborated with Business Factory Food (BFFood), the leading accelerator in the food sector in Galicia, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and energised by the Clúster Alimentario de Galicia (Clusaga), in the DEMODAY event of the V and VI Edition, where innovative technological solutions were presented and future trends in the food industry were discussed. A total of 13 startups presented their pitch in three main themes: solutions for digitisation and automation, solutions for sustainability and development of new food products.
The event was also notable for its round tables where the main figure of mentoring was highlighted by consolidated companies in the sector as support for the participating startups. In addition, there was a debate on investment opportunities in the food sector, needs or main approaches when carrying out an investment round, such as the importance of the team or the value proposition of an initiative. Moderated by our colleague Noelia Vilar Vidal, this panel was an enriching space where new investment trends in the European ecosystem were shared, as well as the success experiences of the guest speakers, and the strengths, weaknesses and challenges faced by the investment ecosystem in the food and foodtech sector were analysed. Finally, the event provided a space for networking and B2B meetings, ideal for strengthening ties and exploring possible strategic collaborations.
In this DEMODAY the company EMPROMAR, which provides solutions linked to the prediction of red tides for the mussel sector in Galicia, received the award for the best entrepreneurial project among the 13 participating startups.
