The FIREPOCTEP+ project, in which we participate, has been awarded with this distinction by the Interreg Spain – Portugal program (POCTEP). This recognition highlights the project’s key contribution to achieving the objectives of the POCTEP program and the priorities of the European Commission. The European Commission aims to capitalize on the visibility of operations of strategic importance in communication campaigns in order to highlight key and emblematic operations, and to lay the groundwork for telling the story of the program and the contribution of European cohesion policy.
FIREPOCTEP+ aims to strengthen wildfire prevention and extinguishing systems in the cross-border region between Spain and Portugal known as La Raya. This project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Program (POCTEP).
FIREPOCTEP+ has 15 highly competent beneficiaries and experts in the field of forest management covering the entire cross-border territory between Spain and Portugal. Specifically, FIREPOCPTEP+ is composed of a total of 7 public administrations, 5 university hubs, 2 private foundations oriented towards the promotion of sustainable innovation, and a cutting-edge technological center. Additionally, it has the support of 2 unfunded partners such as the Xunta de Galicia and the Junta de Andalucía.
