The Cogomelos+ Operational Group is holding a demonstration day on the local common land in Serragorda, Baamonde, in Lugo, on June 6th, at 10:00 am.The day will consist of an interactive walk through the pine forest, where it will be possible to observe live the activities being carried out in the innovation project and learn about some of the tasks necessary for the forest management of pine forests, as well as the main differences and existing conditions in manual and mechanized clearing under trees. In addition, representatives of the three participating Galician entities will present the results they are achieving and the conclusions they expect to draw.
Attendees will have the possibility to reach the meeting point by bus, which will make two stops before arriving at the neighboring mountain of mancomún in Serragorda. The first stop will be at the Lugo University Campus at 9:00 am, followed by another stop in Baamonde at 9:30 am. Finally, we will arrive at the pine forest at 10:00 a.m. to start the day.
Cogomelos+ was created in 2022 with the aim of increasing the mycological productivity of the local forests in Galicia. To this end, the aim is to introduce innovative management technologies to obtain the maximum economic yield, both for timber and mycology, but always keeping in mind the sustainability of the resources and the biodiversity of the environment.
The session will feature presentations by representatives of the project, including our headquarters and two other entities, Servitec Medioambiente and the University of Santiago de Compostela. They will explain the proposed objectives and the results they are obtaining from this innovative initiative. The presentations will be made along a route through the pine forest of the Serragorda common land, where three demonstrative stops will be made, corresponding to the pruning area, the manual weeding area and, finally, the mechanized weeding area.
